This unit will develop students’ skills and knowledge related to the philosophy and practice of qualitative research in public health. Students will explore the different perspectives and opportunities offered by different qualitative paradigms for public health research and apply to a public health issue. Students will explore and critique assumptions and techniques associated with different qualitative research methodologies applicable to research in public health and consider design issues, ethical considerations, qualitative data collection methods, data analysis and reporting techniques.
